Scammers

It's kinda sad to see the length people will go to get free food. Enter the "Scammers". These people go to extraordinary lengths to con off a cheeseburger or even cash! Scams can range from a variety of things from a phone call with "missed food" or to people coming into the restaurant and yelling up a storm. I'd like to share a few examples:

1. One lady came in and placed an order, it was picked up she walked off and sat down to eat. Now sometime after she was done eating ALL of her food, she came up to the counter and complained that her food was cold and tasted disgusting. She demanded her money back. Unfortunately for us the owner of BK believes that the "customer is ALWAYS right". So we had to give her a full refund.

2. Some guy came in one afternoon and began to order, with coupons. It took him roughly 45 minutes to finish his order. He had to change it roughly 5 times throughout the order. After he was all set he came right back and began to complain that he came in a previous week and placed a large order that cost around $140.00. He mentioned that the entire order was screwed up and left a note asking the Restaurant Manager for compensation of the ENTIRE order (be it a full refund or food).

Those are just a few examples of what scams people will use to get just a little free food.

  1. Hey Nikki,
I know what it feels like when the customer is always right. I can realate to this after running my own business for ten years. I would hear some of the outlandish things, just because they didn't wanta pay. Also, it seems like the genral public have become worse sense the bottom has droped out. These days no matter what you do for the customer, their still not happy. Maybe these people sending their food back, haven't seen the movie Waiters yet. I eat a steak raw now before sending it back, after I watched that film. "A little floor spice makes everything nice."

  2. Hi Nikki,
These stories are OUTRAGEOUS!! I am always amazed when I hear stuff like this. Who do these people think they are? So what happened with the guy who wanted his $140 worth of food from the previous week compensated? It seems your manager is just enabling this bad/illegal behavior when he/she gives in. I can see having to let the customer be right, but come on. You've got to at least have a reasonable complaint.

I'm curious to hear about the "yellers" too. Are these just people with anger issues? Are they mentally disturbed or just jerks? Have you ever been yelled at? I would HATE that. I would be torn between crying and yelling back!

  3. Nikki,
I got this stuff all the time being a manager at Mcdonalds. Your boss is right the customer is always, but not all the time. With the two examples you gave I would have denied them their demands. First of all if your food was cold, and tasted gross would you eat it all? No you'd take a bite and take it back up and get a fresh one. As far as I'm concered about the guy with the big order I'd make him show a recipt, and ask why he didn't come back sooner for the mistake that had taken place.
I don't take thier crap, if their lieing and I know that they are, I'll tell them no,sorry. You can't eat all your food and want free food, or that you can't just come in a week or so later complaining about an order that they didn't even acknowledge when they found out it was wrong. So the customers are right just not all the time. I'd rather have a few angry customers mad at me than lose out on money for my buisness because some body is cheap.
What I realized too is that they're more likely than not to come back and eat there again. Even though they got so strung over a freakin cheese burg.

  10. You hate scammers? I hate stupid employees serving cold expired food that should have been thrown in the waste bin in the first place. Employees don't give a shit about food quality. Maybe if employees follow proper procedures y'all won't get scammed by customers. 2 thumbs up to scammers!

  11. Burger King or Joker. I watch an employee at lambert St Louis reach across the counter and hugg a guy. Then without washing her hands putt gloves on. Of course you have to wash hands first or you just put what's on your hands on the gloves...Piss Poor training by there managers even without the virus threat. I guess no more whoppers for me, or coffee as they were the only buisness open to sell any. I sure don't want anything free or not
